How to set up two-factor authentication for your Apple ID

Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security for your Apple ID designed to ensure that you're the only person who can access your account, even if someone knows your password.

1. Turn on two-factor authentication in Settings
   iOS 10.3 or later:
   1. Go to Settings > [your name] > Password & Security.
   2. Tap Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
   3. Tap Continue.
   
   iOS 10.2 or earlier:
   1. Go to Settings > iCloud.
   2. Tap your Apple ID > Password & Security.
   3. Tap Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
   4. Tap Continue.
   
2. Enter and verify your trusted phone number
   1. Enter the phone number where you want to receive verification codes when you sign in.
   2. When you tap Next, Apple sends a verification code to the phone number you provided
   3. Enter the verification code to verify your phone number and turn on two-factor authentication.
   

How to create SyncGene-specific password

With two-factor authentication enabled, you need an app-specific password to sign in to your iCloud account on SyncGene. Follow these steps to generate an app-specific password.

1. Go to appleid.apple.com from your web browser and sign-in with Apple ID
2. Verify identity with two-factor authentication
3. Under the security section, select "Generate Password"
4. Enter the label for password. Make sure it relates to the SyncGene app
5. Click "Create"
6. Copy the app-specific password
7. Launch SyncGene and paste the app-specific password.

After you generate your app-specific password, enter or paste it into the password field of the app as you would normally.
